Fly Fishing Tackle is the fishing equipment you need so that you can go fly fishing. You might have been fishing for years and have some fly fishing tackle already, or you might be completely new to fishing, and don’t know what you will need.

Fishing Rods are available in different sizes, prices and materials. Carbon and bamboo rods are well liked, and relatively light, so that you can use them all day. Fishing Rods are designed for catching different sorts of fish, so if you’re not sure of what you sort of rod you need, or the sort of fish you’ll be catching, why not ask your fishing friends, do your research online, or ask at your local fishing shop? You’re sure to find all the information you need so that you can buy the right fishing rod.

Fishing Reels hold the fishing line, and will vary in price and functionality. For trout fishing you might prefer to use a reel that allows you to wind the line in and out by hand. For salmon fishing, you might be spending more time in the water, and so you’ll want a reel that is up to the job. You won’t need the most technical, or expensive fishing reels to start off with. You might even find that depending on where you fish, and what you fish for, a basic fishing reel will be the most appropriate.

Fly Fishing Lines will vary in length, price, and the sort of fish they are designed to catch. You’ll probably have some ideas as to the sort of fish you’ll catch, and where you’ll be fishing, which can help you to decide the sort of fishing lines to look out for. If you’re not sure, why not ask what your friends use, or research online, or at your local fishing shop. You’ll also need to decide if you need a floating or sinking line.

Fly Fishing Flies, baits and lures are also important. What will be right for you will depend upon the sort of fish you want to catch, whereabouts you are fishing, and the time of year. There are many different sorts of flies and other baits and lures to choose from, so you may need to ask around and see what other people are using, or see what your local fishing shop recommends.

Waders are vital if you are going to be spending a lot of your fishing time in the water, especially if you are fishing for salmon in a river. When choosing waders, you should look for ones that are warm so that you don’t get cold whilst standing in a river all day. Waders that are resistant to rips and tears are more durable, so that if you scrape, bump or snag your waders on a rock or something else in the water, they won’t tear. If you’re new to fishing, then there’s little point in spending a fortune on waders if you’re not going to go in the water much.

A Fishing Tackle Box or bag is another essential, and you’ll use it for carrying all of your fishing tackle with you to and from the car to the water. You might be spending all day fishing, and so make sure that you choose one that will hold al the additional food and drink that you need, as well as your fishing tackle.

You might need different sorts of Fishing Clothing depending on where and when you fish. If you intend to fish for salmon, and spend all day stood in a river, you’ll need warm waterproof fishing clothing that has big pockets that are easy to access, so that you can get what you need when your hands are wet and cold. You might be spending all day sitting down, and never venture into the water, and so might just need additional layers to keep you warm when you’re sat on the bank.

The right Fly Fishing Tackle doesn’t have to be expensive, but getting it wrong can be an expensive mistake. Make sure that you have all the right fishing tackle and clothing you need, and enjoy every day you spend fishing.
