Wellington Boots have come on a long way recently, and, and are now both very versatile and very popular. If you need new wellies, or Childrens Wellingtons what should you be looking for? Comfort? Grip? Durability? Colour?
What will you use your wellies for?
Knowing what you will be wearing your wellies for will help you to decide whether you need a standard basic pair of wellies, or something more substantial. If you’re only taking the dog for a walk in the rain, or playing in puddles with your toddler, you won’t need an expensive pair of wellies, and won’t be bothered about all day comfort. If you’re spending your winter weekends watching your children’s football matches, then warmth and comfort will be important to you. If you’re going to be wearing your wellies whilst fishing, you’re going to need warmth, grip, durability and all day comfort. Will you need to be able to remove your wellies easily? What about when your hands are cold or wet?
How often will you wear your wellington boots?
If you’re looking at buying a pair of wellies just for wearing at one of this year’s music festivals, a weekend camping with family or friends, you’re not going to want to spend a lot of money. You won’t necessarily be looking for warmth and durability, if you don’t intend to keep them after the festival or camping trip. However, if you’re a farmer and can’t live without your wellies, you’ll need to make sure that you get the right sort of wellington boots that are going to be extremely comfortable all day long, no matter what the weather, and won’t let you down.
Where will you wear your wellies?
If you’re wearing your wellies for walking to the shops in the rain, or taking the children to school, then your requirements will be different to someone who wears their boots whilst fishing from a riverbank, or a farmer who is constantly walking in mud on the farm.
Are your wellies a good fit?
If your wellies are not a good fit, then they’ll be uncomfortable and you won’t enjoy wearing them. You won’t want to wear your wellies, and avoid wet or muddy situations, so that you don’t have to wear them. If they are too loose, you run the risk of them getting stuck in the sand or mud you’re walking in. If you wellies are too tight, then you won’t be able to keep your feet warm with an extra pair of socks in winter, and there could also be circulation issues if the boots are too restrictive.
Welly Features
You might not have given wellies much thought recently, so you could be forgiven for thinking that there’s very little different between wellies, and not enough to justify the price differences. You might be surprised to learn that there are some models of wellington boot that are very practical and have been well thought out. These more upmarket models, such as Hunters Boots have features like quick drying lining for when you have wet feet, perhaps when fishing; removable inner soles for winter and summer use so that you keep your feet warm or cool depending on the weather or the environment; neoprene is also used in the construction of some wellies for extra warmth.
Wellington Boots Colours
Wellington boots don’t just have to be green or black. Nowadays, there are many colours to choose from. You can stick with traditional styles of wellies, or stand out from the crowd in loud colourful wellies. Why not have a look at the Hunter RHS Wellies
