You and your roommates woke up at 4:30 in the morning to get ready for the race. You all went outside and found Viktor already flying on his broom.
“Hey A!” You turned around saw your brother and Cedric Diggory heading towards the three of you. You sighed to yourself.
“It should be illegal having to see someone as annoying as Cedric Diggory so early in the morning,’ you thought.
“Hey girls,” Alex said greeting the group. “You ready A?”
“Yep. I’ve been trained by the greatest,” you answered.
“And who would that be?” Cedric asked.
“Yours truly,” you replied. Alex frowned.
“Kidding! Gosh you can’t even take a joke,” you exclaimed at Alex, “I meant by the greatest professional soccer coach. The one, the only, Alexander Lee,” you said in a British accent while curtsying at Alex. During the whole conversation you had all been walking closer to the lake, so that when you stopped laughing, you were at the lake.
“And vhat may I say is so funny?” Viktor questioned.
“Oh, we’re just practicing our laugh for when you lose,” you replied calmly.
“I am surprised you think you can vin with such skinny sticks for legs,” Viktor replied, equally as calm.
You waited until Vlad and Klaus were done snickering before answering. “I may be eating your comments but you’re going to eat my dust.” Your friends oohhed and you gave your brother a high-five. Then you walked to the starting line while Viktor mounted his broom.
“On your mark,” Ivan began, “Get set, Go!” He blew his whistle and off we went.
You had a head start thanks to practicing them with Alex. But Viktor wasn’t quick to give up and rapidly caught up. The two of you reached the halfway point. You could hear every one in your group cheering for you. You blocked them out and started singing, “Breaking the Habit” by: Linkin Park in your head to make you go faster. You were still tied with Viktor and were almost to the finish line. You gave one more final burst of energy and crossed the finish line before Viktor. Your friends went wild and chanted your name. You and Viktor shook and smiled at each other.
“Good race,” Viktor said congratulating you happily. You were surprised. You thought he would be like any other guy and demand a rematch.
“Hey Cedric, Alex!” You turned around to see a group of Cedric and Alex’s friends pass by. You glared at them. You didn’t like the fact that Alex hung out with them, but you didn’t say anything because Alex was old enough to pick his own friends. Your brother came up to you and gave you a hug. Alex and Cedric both clapped Viktor on the back and left.
“Bye guys,” you, Carrie and Hermione said to the Durmstrang boys.
“Better luck next time Viktor,” Carrie shouted before departing.
The three of you went to get ready for class. The day went by as normal as could be in a magical school. Today you had Transfiguration (your favorite class), Double Potions which wasn’t so bad because you liked Potions, you just didn’t like the teacher. Afterwards you had Defense Against the Dark Arts. Then, came lunch.
You, Hermione and Carrie came into lunch discussing Professor Moody and were about to sit down when Viktor came up to you and asked, “Vhy don’t the three of you sit vith us at the Slytherin table?”
“Ok,” you said brightly and Hermione and Carrie followed.
Some of the Slytherins were about to say something but they didn’t when they saw that you were sitting with the famous Bulgarian Seeker.
“Hey! No mudbloods are allowed to sit here!” Draco said with a smirk.
“None of us are mudbloods, Malfoy!” you spat at him threw gritted teeth.
“Then what is Granger?” he asked in a mocking voice.
“Hermione,” you put an emphasis on her name, “is a very intelligent witch.”
“Sit Anabele,” Hermione commanded because at that point you were up in Malfoy’s face. “He’s not worth it.”
“Yeah listen to your mudblood friend” Draco declared.
“That’s it!” you screamed. You pulled back your fist and you were about to punch Draco when Viktor’s voice stopped you.
“A real man does not harass such lovely ladies,” he said with just a hint of menace in his tone. Malfoy just smirked and walked back to his friends. You glared at his back and only sat down when he reached his friends. When you did sit down, you could feel your face burn. Viktor hadn’t needed to come to come to your rescue but he did. Then you all talked about random things. Such as Quidditch and comparing Durmstrang and Hogwart’s.
Then, Cedric Diggory came up to you and asked with a tinge of nervousness, “Anabele, can I talk to you?” Instantly, you knew he was going to ask you out. He had been since the end of last year. Everyone knew that he liked you and they thought you were weird because you said no. You kept making excuses and saying no but he just refused to take the hint.
“Actually Cedric, I have to get to class,” you replied.
“But you still have 10 minutes,” Vladimir said confused. You glared at him.
“It will only take a minute,” Cedric stated.
“Fine,” you sighed, “Tell me here.” You instantly regretted it though when you saw of the guy’s faces look up with curiosity.
You could see Cedric get visibly nervous. “I was wondering if you could accompany me to Hogsmeade this Saturday?”
You looked at the boy’s faces and saw Viktor’s darken.
“Oh. I’m not going to Hogsmeade I have some things I want to get done.” You gave him a small smile.
“Ok. Maybe next time,” he said, walking away. As soon as he walked away you heard someone scream your name.
“A! A! A!” you watched Alex run towards your table. When he reached the table, he collapsed in a chair and tried to catch his breath.
“Coach, you’ve let yourself go!” you poked him in the gut.
“Guys,” you said turning to the other members of the table. “This is my brother Alex.” Introductions were made and when you said Viktor’s name Alex just raised his eyebrows.
“Anabele, I saw Cedric talking to you.” He said looking at you, being 100% serious. “Please tell me you’ve ended my suffering and misery and have finally said yes.”
