Late Mission - A Kakashi Oneshot for Devilsblackrose66
Hope you like it! I actually enjoyed writing this one :) Feel free to message me with what you think."So we're going to the Village Hidden in Snow?" I questioned, my voice every inch the professional I was recognised as. As the Hokage nodded, I scowled internally. But, being a shinobi, I masked my annoyance and turned back to my teammate for this mission. The famed Copycat nin, Hatake Kakashi. By the way his eye twinkled, I knew he was laughing inside. The two of us were friends for some reason. Having met him through his team, after covering their training while he was in hospital, something about his aloof manner made me perservere in befriending him. Overtime, he had become my best friend and I told him everything about myself, hence the reason he was amused. I loathed the cold with a passion. Restraining a sigh, I grabbed the scroll we were to deliver and bowed before leaving to pack. The sky was a myriad of colours as I gazed up, safe in the knowledge that Kakashi was paying full attention to the surroundings. Although it wasn't very smart of me to do so, I was bored and so chose to take a couple of minutes as a sort of break. A tap on the shoulder tugged me from my daydream and I glanced sideways, offering my companion a slow smile. "Sorry Kakashi. I was just thinking." "I don't mind Monika. I was wondering if we should make camp." I nodded instantly. "Good idea. I'm tired." Emphasising this with a huge yawn, I stretched my arms out in front of me and plopped ungracefully onto the ground. When he looked at me with a raised eyebrow, I smiled innocently. "Well get to it. It's the man's job to look after the woman remember, or does Icha Icha not mention that?" Although it was obvious I was kidding, Kakashi said nothing and swiftly set up the tent and fire. To me, this was slightly confusing. Normally, he would have joined me on the floor, waiting until I was annoyed enough to do it myself. Maybe something was bothering him. "Ne, are you okay Kaka-kun?" He joined me by the fire, having fixed the final peg for our tent. "I'm fine Monika-chan. Why do you ask?" "No reason. You just didn't bother forcing me to do it today." Plus the fact that I care about you, I added mentally, If there's something wrong, I want to help you. The rest of the evening was spent in comfortable conversation, between bites of simple rice balls. Well between my mouthfuls; Kakashi finished his food almost as soon as I gave it to him. It had always made me curious, the way he hid his face. Of course I knew about the Sharingan, but it was the rest of his face that intrigued me. But I never pushed the issue, simply believing that when he was ready to show me and explain, he would. That was the kind of faith I had in people and one of the many reasons they liked me; I didn't push. Standing, I yawned once again and meandered over to the tent, crawling inside and collapsing fully dressed atop of the sleeping bag. My partner followed, chuckling as he noticed my position. "Monika, you're supposed to sleep inside of it." As I rolled over to speak to him, I took advantage of his state of undress. While he pulled the top over his head, I appreciated the obvious muscles on his chest, making sure to look away before he finished. "I know that Kashi, but I want to appreciate the warmth before we lose it." "Don't blame me if you get cold in the night." "Yeah, yeah." Damn him for being right, I thought to myself as I woke shivering. I really had meant to crawl inside the the sleeping bag, but I was so tired, sleep had caught me before I could. NowI had the difficult task of moving without waking Kakashi. It was almost impossible to do as he was such a light sleeper, constantly on his guard. I couldn't blame him really, having so many enemies tended to do that to people. Just when I thought I'd succeeded, his voice made me jump. "Are you alright Hayashi?" He teased, the last name used purely to irritate me. "Just a little c-cold." I had tried to stop my teeth from chattering, but the way I stammered on the last word made it clear that I was borderline freezing. Sighing, the Copy nin sat up and unzipped his sleeping bag and mine, before linking them together and wrapping a loose arm around my waist. His body heat washed over me comfortingly and I relaxed, having unknowingly tensed at his unexpected touch. "T-thank yo-you." I didn't bother trying to stop the tremors this time, although they made me almost bite my own tongue. I felt him shrug around me. "Go back to sleep. We have an early morning remember?" I nodded and settled myself more comfortable against him, allowing my eyes to slide closed once more. "Night-t." When I woke, I was disorientated, wondering why I was in such an intimate position with the man beside me. My face was pressed into his neck as I lay half across him, wrapped in his arms. I could feel his steady breaths, causing my hair to waver slightly and a faint shiver to travel down my spine as the warm air tickled the back of my neck. As much as I didn't want to move, I figured him waking up to find me openly staring at him would make for a very awkward mission. Not that it wasn't going to be awkward anyway. Shifting, I lifted my body weight from him, or at least attempted to. The arms that loosely held my waist tightened when I tried to escape his grip and I was forced to slump back onto his torso; even then the movement didn't disturb him. Poking him in the side, I wriggled in an attempt to wake him and finally, his eyes slid open slowly. My breath caught in my throat as I suddenly realised something. He wasn't wearing his mask. His face crinkled in amusement as he saw my predicament and he let me go, sitting up in one smooth motion. "Kami-sama! I thought you'd never wake up." I complained, trying and failing to glare at him. He simply chuckled. "What's the matter Hayashi? Don't like being in my arms?" In my mortification, a faint flush made itself visible; I could tell from the smirk on his gorgeous face. I mentally slapped myself for even thinking about that and blushed darker, turning from him and grabbing my weapons pouch. Long fingers clamped around my wrist, stopping me from strapping it to my thigh. I scowled darkly as he squeezed the pressure point, making me drop it once more. His voice was lower than normal, its husky quality making the blood pound inside my veins, as he spoke again. "You didn't answer me Mo-ni-ka." My name rolled seductively over his tongue and I found myself staring into his eyes in what I could only call confusion mixed with a little bit of hope. Recognising my emotions, he smirked and pulled me flush against him, crushing his mouth to my own. My startled yelp allowed his tongue to explore my mouth and he did so with fervor, mapping it in detail. My mind was fogged slightly as he drew away from my swollen lips, a soft laugh escaping him before he leaned in to repeat the action. As he pressed against me, I let myself fall backwards, no longer thinking as his skilled fingers traced my skin, coaxing a moan from my lips. A thought flashed into my mind suddenly and I broke away, panting lightly. "Well, I do have a reputation for being late -" He didn't have the chance to finish as I tugged him back down to meet me. Delivering the scroll could wait....
"What about the mission?" I asked quietly, not wanting to break the soft atmosphere that surrounded us.
