  8. 4.00 The Rabbits

Published by MissUnderstood-Patty on 05/13/2008 in Poems

In Year 9 we had to study a picture book called "The Rabbits", written by John Marsden. Although I like other books written by Marsden, I took an imediate dislike to "The Rabbits". The natives are the Aboriginals, the rabbits are the British Settlers/Convicts. We had to write a poem beginning with "The rabbits came many grandparents ago, At first the natives didn’t know what to think." And here is mine. Sorry if it is too rascist for you, but that's how I am, not some pussy footed do-gooder. *Note concerning the last line: Yes, if you do not like a person because the colour of their skin it is indeed, prejudice, yet in this day and age, everyone uses it in the same way, so I thought that for one time only, I would too.
