The movie was great.
I loved it.
My family loved it.
You'll love it.
But apparently some Catholic celebrities have some religious beef with it.
Why?
I have not the slightest clue.
Here's a breakdown of the movie.
The story starts out in a different version of earth in a different demention. Instead of having their souls in there bodies. People have them in the form of animals that are always by their side called "Demons". If they are hurt so are their demons and vice versa. So the real story starts with a girl names Lyra and her soul/demon named Pan and shes this special girl. Then her father/ uncle starts talking about this stuff that the govornment says you cant talk about called "Dust" ( Stuff that makes up the universe and connects all the different versions of the universe/ Its also the stuff that makes the connection between a human and their soul/demon ) So this lady takes Lyra and Pan away but before she goes the head guy at the school she's at givees her a golden compass that shows the truth that only Lyra can read. So she goes with this lady. Turns out she's psycho and Lyra and Pan run away.
So they run away with these peeps that keep her safe and she meets this Skynaut ( A dude who flys an air ship) and this ice bear ( Super decked out polar bear ) and she goes realy far north to some place that looks like Antartica to a palce where children are taken by people called "Goblers". And at this place they take the children and separate them from their souls/demons. Quite painfully. So she and the other kids escape but are stoped by these armed guys and their wolf companions. But the Ice Bear and the Skynaut and a whole bunch of other peeps come and kill them all and Lyra distroys the machine that separates people from their demons. Then the movie ends abruptly. Kinda like the end of the first Lord of the Rings movie.
So.... What?
Seriously what is there for the Catholic peeps to have a beef about? I realy dont get it. Its outragious! One of my theories is they're having a big problem with the fact in the movie that peoples souls aren't in their bodies, but in the form of animals that are always with them... But... COME ON!! Worse things have happened in movies and on TV than that. Or maybe its because the origional author of the book is an Atheist. Bo... Frickity...Hooo... So what if he was an Atheist? This book/ movie was his brain baby. Yes Brain baby.... Its a real phrase. But for realz whats there in this movie to Religiously have a problem with? If anyone who actualy reads this Novel of a blog has any idea why they have a problem with it, please tell me!
Sincearly,
Me
