Latest Journal Entry
March 4, 2009
To Future Writers
This will probably be my last journal for this site. Since I was one of the people who came to know the original quizilla before it became such a huge site swelled with so many people it burst at the seams, I do not find the new layout (if you can consider it "new") to be all that attractive and such, but that is not what this journal is about, since I will not be leaving. I will occasionally check messages, but stories will be incredibly rare now they may not exist at all. However, I will leave what I have done here so that those who enjoy reading them can enjoy them for however long they wish. So, I say to you, future writers:
Whatever obstacles may come your way in this hobby, future career, or whatever, always enjoy what it is you may do. So many places beat the creativity out of the human mind now so that those who had the potential to create wondrous things can no longer see past their self-centered, pitiful world.
Slowly build your skills as a writer and don't attempt to grow too quickly. Believe me, it only results in a major collapse later where one thinks that he or she cannot write anything worthwhile. I was there. Whenever it becomes too tiresome, it is important to set down the pencil, stop typing, stop looking at the screen, and just take a nice, long, and deep breath until the mind has had a chance to relax.
At the same time, it is important to develop one's skills as much as he or she can. It truly is an important ability to adapt to different styles and take criticism from others even if the criticism is harsh. Soemtimes the most insightful comments are not the nice little sucking-up comments that most people enjoy reading. While those are nice, it is important to take into consideration why others may leave harsh criticisms that may just tear your story apart piece by piece. Most of the time (disregarding flaming) the criticisms are there to help you develop as a writer and to learn how to make your stories more enjoyable.
The most important thing you can do, however, is to persevere and continue writing. I wish all future writers good luck!
Perhaps this journal is only for me, and perhaps it will eventually fade into the past without ever being sene, but that is fine with me. Those who come across it later will hopefully find something insightful hidden within the flamboyant text and take to heart something that I said. If not, well, that's not too much of my problem.
