Using the Erotic as Power
Prehaps mischievious would be a better mood. Now, it is no secret that I like to push boundaries. Read my stories and you will discover my use of sex in writing. But here, I am not using the word Erotic as sex here. The root of Erotic is Eros and Eros is the goddess of love in Mythology. Therefore, Erotic means love and meant love before it was tained with pornography and sexual desire. I am exploring the word Erotic as the way Audre Lorde uses Erotic in her piece, "Using the Erotic as Power." She states. "The erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feeling." In this way, Erotic is uniquely feminine and a source of empowerment. Was that too preachy? At the end of the day, I'm just say that women need to reclaim the Erotic as power and not see it as a source of shame. Let the erotic flow through your life. Let is strengthen your experiences.
