JoeyGirl1420 goes to College

Hey everyone! Ok, so I finally finished High School (though I will miss staying in the Music Room alone, practicing my singing, piano and guitar every night until 5:30). The good news is... I survived! Go me! Go me! Lol.

It's 3:54am at the moment, so that means yesterday I spent the day at college getting trial lessons! It was sooo much fun! BasicallyI went in at normal time (I guess it was a half term or something because I saw NO older pupils!) and finished at normal time. The lessons I am taking at college are Performing Arts and a Media BTEC (equivalent of 3 GCSEs).

Ok, so it took me 40 minutes to walk to college. I had noone to walk with so it was rather boring, though I was too hyped up about starting anew to care! After all, the first 15 years of my life I have been a victim, so I'm finally getting the chance to change my life for the better! 30 minutes down the route I realised something... I wasn't sure I was on the right road! A guy with Black and Crimson red highlights was walking the same way as me so I decided to ask directions. He wore all black, thick black boots and had his iPod blasting. He was very tall, so I figured he was about 21 or something.

As he approached me, I guess he read my mind, because he took his headphones out and I saw my chance to ask if I was on the right track. "Excuse me, is (college name which I won't give out) just down this road?" He simply nodded, and I let out a sigh of relief. I would not be late before school had even begun! He laughed a little and told me I might as well walk there with him. AS it turned out - he was 16! Immediatly we were chatting, and I learned that his name was (and still is obviously) Dan, he also took Performing Arts and he laughed at my jokes a lot! As a person who loves to make people laugh I was happy to find someone who liked my material.

We came to the gate after 6-7 minutes. Everywhere were people I'd never met before, all stood in smallish groups and chatting loudly over one-another.It was all so exhilarating, so refreshing, so free. There were so many new people to meet and lots of new friends to be made! The first gang we passed knew Dan and called him over, so we said our Goodbyes and I took off to see if there was anyoneI recognised, though I doubted it. Almost all my aquaintances had moved to a different college! Scary huh? I was relieved though when the thought hit me that my High School bullies wouldn't be there to continue the torture! Either way, I took a peek at my diamond(fake) covered watch which I'd bought for my prom in May, and saw I had class in about 20 minutes. I decided to brave the unknown and step through those double doors and begin my new journey of the next 2 years of my life (even if they don't officially start until September!) *Don't let me trip! Don't let me trip!* I thought to myself over and over...

Inside wasn't as crowded as it was outside, but it was still crowded non the less, and still no sign of any familiar faces! As I glanced around I saw an empty seat on the end of the corridor, at the end of the row of seats. Cautiously I made my way over, nervously contemplating what would happen if I made the wrong impression! "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" I asked to the girl sat next to it. To my surprise, she smiled at me and gestured for me to sit with her. "Of course not! Sit down if you want." So I did! Phew, I had just escaped the bad first impression curse! She introduced me to her friend who was sat just next to her, and before long we were chatting like bezzies, all excited and bubbly. Her friend's name was Rachel, but neither the girl who invited me to sit with them nor I introduced ourselves - we just wanted to talk really! It wasn't until she looked down at the timetable I had in my hand that we realised we had the exact same name! We were both made up to find someone else whose name is spelt J-O-A-N-N-A! It was easy to talk to people here - I knew I was going to love my life here!

15 minutes passed in what felt like seconds, and I came to the conclusion that if I didn't get cracking I'd be late for my first Performing Arts class... wherever that was! As I stood up to go and explore, another girl came into contact with me, and again, we got all excited like infant-school kids who know nothing about one another and 10 seconds later are like best friends! Her name was Abi. I very quickly learned that she too had taken Performing Arts! I was so excited, until I learned that both Abi and Dan were in the Performing Arts session after mine! I looked down at my timetable out of curiosity to see what I had next, when I found an error with my times! The sheet read:

10-11: Performing Arts

12-1: Lunch

1-2: Media BTEC

2-3:Media BTEC

What's wrong with that? *What am I supposed to do between 11 and 12?!?!* I didn't know if I had an extra lesson which I was unaware of, or did I just have an hour longer lunch than anyone else? At any rate, I'd have to figure it out later because it was 9:58 and I had no idea where the hell I was meant to be!

Fortunately I made it to my lesson on time - the Gods were on my side yesterday (was about due a good day after almost 16 unlucky years!) I think the school's architect had a thing for double doors because that's what I had to heave open to get into the Drama Hall! My God, it was breathtakingly huge! Most of the class was already sat in a semi-circle, waiting for the clock to strike ten in about 40 seconds! I shuffled my way shyly through the room and plonked myself down into the nearest seat possible, which was on the end of the semi circle!Sat next to me was the only boy in the entire class! Poor thing - the only other male in the room was our teacher, whose name I have temporarilly forgotten! Oops! For now, we'll refer to him as Mr. Bob.

After a short while, no-one else showed up, so we just started the lesson without the three or four missing pupils-to-be. Our Mr. Bob took attendance, then had us move all the chairs to the back of the room and get into a space. We had to do that thing where you stretch your arms out and twist your body to make sure you don't hit anyone, then basic stretching - y'know? Rotating your arms, feet, reaching to the floor without bending knees, shake it all off etc... Then he had us all huddle ino a very close circle, turn right... and give eachother NECK MASSAGES! We couldn't stop laughing! Next we had to walk around the room at our normal walking pace, and when he called a number we had to get into groups of that quantity ASAP! We did that 4 times before he got bored and stopped. We ended up in groups of 4... Now for the fun parts!

Fun part 1:
Mr. Bob called out a number, and each group ha to have that many contacts with the floor! For example. 1 person standing upright has 2 feet on the floor, thus 2 contacts. Get it? Good. The catch was we had to link to eachother in someway!

The hardest one was 27 contacts to the floor! But our group managed! Each of us had our knees (8), elbows ( 8 more = 16), leant over so our tail-bones came into contact with the floor ( 4 more =20), one wrist bent so our hands also touched the floor ( 4 more = 24) and 3 of us had our heads on the floor (GOAL!!!!) Then to link all we did was shuffle as close to eachother as we could! It worked!

The silliest one was to get the smallest number of contacts to the floor! Our group won with 2 contacts! Here's how we did it - piggy back rides, with the oinkers hopping on one foot! (I'm not taking the piss because I was one of the 'oinkers' lol) For contacts, the 'riders' reached over and joined hands and that helped us balance! We got props for creativity!

Fun Part 2:
Next activity folks! We had to find a partner and get into a space. No, we didn't do mirror excercises - we had LOADS more fun! He gave us situations to play out between ourselves. We weren't put on the spot though (thank god!) since we only had 40 seconds to do them ^^ First one: Shop assistant selling a customer a rediculously expensive wig! I was the sales woman, and ended up trying to sell the other girl a Hannah Montana quality wig for Halloween! I didn't manage lol. Second one: Complaining about a botched plastic surgery. As you can imagine we were all in fits of giggles with this one. I complained and looked like a person with neck problems (crooked to the right) and talked like a martian! I got my money back! Third one: A friend explains why they don't have a prezzie for their friend's birthday. I explained and did NOT get off the hook! I said I ordered it from Spain and I'd show her the reciept then described the gift and she said I should have known she doesn't like gifts like that! Fourth one: A friend recieves an extravegant and expensive gift... from their friend's BOYFRIEND!!! Wow! Well I confronted my friend about it and she said it was buy one, get one free and he's bought the other for her. For a second we were happy... until she went on about snotting on my gift and comparing it to hers. In real life - KNOW WHEN TO SHUT THE HELL UP!!!! And the fifth one: Polite rejection of the recieved gift. Oh this was fun! I got given spinach soup and my excuse was this particular brand gave me an allergic reaction last week! Hahaha xx You should try that - it's loads of fun!

Fun Part 3:
Okay so this isn't very fun. We watched a little bit of West Side Story. Ever see it? Neither had I. I was the only one who'd never heard of it! The two gangs Jets and Sharks were clicking and dancing in the street (as you do?!?!) And then we did our final activity...

(Final) Fun Part 4:
We had 2 minutes to come up with a musical number to create tension between two gangs and make percussion music with our bodies (clapping etc...) WHILE dancing! Ours was awful! It was a group of seven and we started crouched on the floor in a tight circle. 2 people got up(gang one), then 3 more got up and surrounded them (from gang two). Then the last 2 got up and made four people in gang one. We surrounded group two who wound up inthe middle, back to back while we slowly walked around them, giving them evils the whole time! For music, group one had a poly-rhythm going on. One girl clicked 1..2..3..4... Another went clap..clap..clickclickclapclap.. The boy patted his knees in syncopation (off beat) to girl one, so his pats were inbetween her clicks. I just did a bunch of random stuff ^^ It was all improvised though as NOONE can do that in 2 mins and we hadto do it infront of them. We decided to make it a comedy! We got good feedback and they loved the evil glares! Haha xx

Okay, so class ended and everyone left, except me. I still had no clue where I was meant to be! I asked my teacher and his response was simple: "Guess you're free" But that was soooo much fun! And Dan and Abi were in the class about to start. I explained the situation and he agreed to let me take the class again! It was soooo fun! I'm just not re-writing it because do ya really wanna hear it? All I'll say is Dan complained about us cutting off the wrong leg in plastic surgery and the leg he still had was the one he wanted removed. He wanted to be a uni-leg model! Also I met Joe - he was funny hahahaha xx

By now in the story it's 12pm and time for lunch! Yey... Only I wasn't hungry. Either way I walked down to Tesco with Abi and Dan and... well everyone else! When we went out the gate I was shocked to recognise a girl I hadn't seen or heard from since year 6 - 6 years ago! Rachel recognised me too and we cought up in 2 seconds! So far, life at College is SWEET! For lunch I bought 2 packs of gum (Strawberry HubbaBubba and Tropical Trident - 'the ultimate jaw sport') and a bottle of Fanta fruit twist. While in Tesco I ran into another primary school classmate! Josh - how is it after 6 years when we've changed so much we still recognise eachother straight away?!?! Lol

By the time I got back to college I still had 15 mins until my next lesson. SWAT POWER! I went straight to the room and waited alone for 2 minutes, until another early-bird joined me! Before College had even begun we would be labelled the geeky early pair lol. His name was Oliver, and he (like me) was into photo manipulation, cyber creation, all that jazz... I learned that he came from a school called Stanley, which apparently is on the coast. Don't know where that is - hell, I don't know where the coast is and I live 5 mins away from it! I suck at Geography lol.

Roughly ten minutes later the rest of the class arrived, except for two, but oh well, their loss ^^ The turn out was 3 girls to 7 guys. Again, we had a male teacher (whose name I have also forgotten and we shall refer to as Professor. Bob - it is completely different!) So, Professor Bob split the ten of us into 2 groups of five for the big task, however, before we get into all that, he had a big, bold and *murmurs* slightly boring... *back to normal decibal* presentation on the course. Turns out that I will be doing 13.5 hours of Media PER WEEK! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the end of the presentation was a game for all of us. It tested us on our knowledge of types of camera shots and as it was an interactive whiteboard we all got a chance to go up and label each picture. I went first ^^ We made no mistakes and he was very happy.

Finally we came to the BIG task - creating a comic! God, was it fun! We were, like I said, in groups of 5, and had 30 mins to make something. We had 3 stages to complete until we had finished. The first was creating the storyline. We sat at our tables and were given a dice and a set of cue cards which our professorhad prepared. We numbered ourselves one to five - I was 3 ^^ We rolled the dice and if your number came up you'd pick up the top card and do what it said. Oliver went first and had to choose the name for our superhero. He called him John. Then it was me. I had to choose something John likes. I couldn't think of anything else in less than 2 seconds and remembered the dice infront of me. It was green. I said he liked his green dice. WTF?!?!! There wasn't anything special about it and it didn't relate to the plot (which we came up with near the end) whatsoever! But oh, well... In the end we had the following information:

His name is John.
John likeshis green dice.
John has 3 allies called Jane, Jack and Tom.
John isdating Jane.
John's allies Jane and Tom are captured by assassins.
John's eviltwin, Jim, is the villainous captor.
John'suses Google. (To find Jane and Tom)
3 scenes: Canteen for flashback to High School Foodfight
Trees outside on the field for a jungle
Can't think of another!
Jim gets Jane and John turns out to be gay and goes off with Jim.
The dice lives on!

So as you can tell, we each took turnsto tribute to the storyline. Now... time to start shooting! ... Ok now that I see that written it looks wrong - I meant shooting with a camera! Stewart played Jack, Bobby (Can't remember her name either!) played Jane. I played Tom (the gay and apparently girly-looking ally) and we decided that since Dan (Different Dan) and Oliver looked most alike- so they'd have to be John and Jim. Neither of them wanted to be John! But since we knew Oliver ever so slightly longer, we made Dan play John ^^ We took loads of pics for the foodfight, though we only needed one - we just liked to have options. Then we photographed John and Jane having a romantic moment (no, no kissing involved), and Jim in the background broken hearted, and taking his anger out on Jack by pushing him over lol. When it came to Jane and I being captured we shot them out by the dumpsters. I couldn't keep a straight face so we just said that Jane and I were on goofy gas to make the job easier for the assassination mission and we had 2 pics, one being pulled out the door, and one being pulled around the corner and out of sight. Then we shot an over-the-shoulder picture of John using Google to search, and I quote: "Jim the evil dude" XD We didn't have time for a jungle scene so we just shot the twins fighting, Jane and Jim walking down the conveniently dim-lit hallway, arms around eachother, and about 4 attempts at a pic of the dice! Ooh! And one of John smiling at the dice, superhero stance, and the gang having a good laugh ^^

Apple Mac time baybay! ^^ Ok so Bobby and I worked on turning it into a comic, and the boys did too. Like I said, we like options lol so we split into boys vs. girls to see who made the best in 10 mins on software we'd never seen before! It turned out well though for us. We called it "John and the Green Dice legend" ROFLLMAOOL. I think the best part was the romantic pic in a heart shape in the corner of the pic of Jim pushing over Jack :P The funniest part was the comment box underneath Jim pushing over Jack saying "Jim is snubbed and apparently takes it out of Jack! TIMBER!!!!!" ... ... We only had 10 mins! Well anyway, the time came to pack up our stuff, print, and leave. So we said our goodbyes, exchanged handshakes and went our seperate ways.

I had soo much fun, and I just can't wait until September! It's now 1:25am the next day so it's been 2 days since the college trial. Wish me luck everyone ^^ Byebye xx
