HELP! ...please... somebody...

There's a boy that I like in my grade. I won't give his name just because he might see this and you know, this is all public... Anyway, he's really awesome looking. Only a few people know about my crush, but one of them is a gossip queen (she's not even really a friend. We were at a party and someone asked me who I'd say yes to going out with in my grade.) I'm scared that she might have put it out there that I like him, but I want to be able to tell him myself. Don't tell me to gather my courage because the last time I told a guy that I liked him, it sorta chased him away and we haven't spoken since. It's really not fair. He's sorta shy and he won't make the first move... I don't want to chase him away like I did with the other guy. HELP!
