My Personal Views on the Nazis of Quizilla and Criticism
Many people know by now about the e-Akatsuki, sometimes referred to as Quizilla Nazis. Being that I have no better use for my time, as they certainly have none for theirs, I wanted to write a little bit about my thoughts. I am not afraid of receiving criticism of this; in fact I anticipate it, especially for those of you in support of the e-Akatsuki. I realize that despite the frustrating things about the e-Akatsuki, some of them are at least willing to listen to others. I hope that in the case one reads this, it will not fall upon deaf or unconcerned ears.I am a true appreciator of criticism. People who help others through criticism deserve more credit than they will ever receive. I truly think they are a great group of special "teachers" who can lead a writer, fair or not so, on their way to becoming better and better. I admire a good critic. However, the e-Akatsuki, from what I have observed in the past few days, does not fall under my category of even satisfactory critics; no, they fall much farther than that. The e-Akatsuki fall into a group I reserve for people who are nothing more than a brick composed of pompous, unintelligent slobs.
As I mentioned in chapter two of my story on fan-fiction writing, critics are very specific things to me. Here's what I wrote:
A good, sound criticism tells you what you're doing right, what you're doing wrong, suggestions on how to fix the wrongs, and maybe a few relations or other comments. A bad or generally lazy criticism sounds like either of these two things: "It's rly good" or "omg it sux". Usually they lack the energy to type out their oh-so-helpful comments. They're not intrusive or obnoxious, but they also aren't helpful and they don't really do anything apart from tell you in a general sense whether the person liked it or not. They may have skimmed it for all you know. Then there is another category of criticizers, the worst kind. They will rant and rave about how bad or inconceivably stupid your story is, and then refuse to give you any advice. Some even go as far as publicly announcing your idiocy, and cussing you out when you try to talk to them or make a statement back.
I am afraid that the e-Akatsuki seem to fall into that last group. You should be ashamed to call yourself critics, and if you aren't it only goes to prove how insensitive and lacking you truly are. This is not to be taken as a personal attack, merely as a statement that as you intrude the souls of others by toying with their joy of writing, be it good or bad; you have condemned the name "critic" and soiled it past the point of redemption. I am disgusted at what you write. Only once have I seen you offer the idea that you may have given someone advice. Even so, is it wrong of me, with your current impression, to assume it was neither kind nor helpful? You degrade rising authors and refuse to help them because, heaven forbid they disgrace the word "writer" in your view alone! Have they all committed some horrible crime in which no salvation is permitted?
I do believe I'm preaching at you. Forgive me. But what I have written I shall not take back. I expect you take it and swallow it. There is no such thing as perfection, and the only way a person can get better is to be helped, not humiliated. Please take caution in what you write from now on. You say that what you write is not out of hate, and it is a response to hateful things said by you. In essence though, it is out of hate! This is so because everything must come from its predecessor; love can only come from love, hate can only come from hate, and the fact that everyone suffers in this world cannot be compared. Suffering and pain are suffering and pain no matter the amount; you cannot compare one kind to another. -S.AN
