Jessica Weis Mrs. Franks English 11 5 March 2009 Music Should Not Be Banned Listening to portable music devices should not be banned in schools for the sake of expression. Most can agree that music is something that completes life, so why take away something beneficial to learning and to expressing one self in our school environment? A majority of students agree that listening to a music device during quiet time in class can enhance concentration and motivation towards school and school work. The first reason that I solemnly believe that the banning of music devices is corrupt is because music is a form of inspiration and a reminder of happier times. Sometimes at school when I am lonely, I think about my dearly departed father. I have a special song that we once sang together on my music player that reminds me of who he used to be and something we shared. Music has also inspired me to so significant things. Have you ever heard a song that made you want to work hard to achieve your dreams? It is amazing that the power of music can motivate one to do such things. I have also used music to develop new friendships at school. A few of my friends and I enjoy the compositions of similar bands, so therefore we have common interests. I believe that people who can be socially active in school can have confidence in themselves which can lead to better learning. The second reason for my wanting the ban on music devices to be revoked is the proven fact that music can build creativity and relaxation.Daily Horoscope
