Does no one care anymore?
As some of you would know, although probably not as many as I'd hoped to be following the current world issues, a cartoon mockery of the Prophet Mohammad has been drawn. I will not go into excruciating detail but the messenger of Allah was drawn with a bomb in replacement for the turban on his head in September of last year by a person by the name of Delize.
On the one hand; an apology was needed. If anyone has recently checked CNN, this is put in comparison to how the cartoon publication of the Nazi genocide against the Jewish people during WWII would affect us. There would definitely be an enormous reaction to that, and what they're saying is that the cartoon mockery of the Prophet Mohammad is as horrifying to them as the cartoon mockery of the Nazi genocide. Denmark has desecrated something sacred to them.
On the other hand; the backlash is exceedingly harsh. The reaction the world is suffering from shouldn't be this bad. Compare it to this: if someone drew a cartoon of say... your mother (terrible comparison, I know) in a disturbing way, would you be offended? Understandably, yes. And if they didn't apologize would you... kill them? That's the problem with the backlash. Both sides are wrong in their own way: there should have been an attempt at an apology but there shouldn't be so much harm coming to people over this.
Now although I remain undecided on this and sitting on the fence at the moment, one thing is clear: people do not deserve to die over one person’s mistake. Several persons, even, if you include the other papers that published it. It’s an insult to me as a human being to know that a cartoon can send this many people into an uproar enough to pull the Danish people out of their embassies and murder them. I am not racist. I think the cartoon was very wrong and a very crude thing to do, but the only person in need of being punished for that is Delize. Innocents are dying and the guilty are not. Something is very wrong with this picture and something should be done. World peace is something that would only exist in a utopian society, I know, and as long as competition, racism, fear and hate reign in our world, it will never be so. Something needs to change.
Leave as many angry comments as you would like, I’d actually like to hear people’s opinions on this considering I’ve probably just offended both sides of this event. If it gets too bad, though, I will delete it. So please use discretion.

I agree with what your saying, and I agree with the right to freedom of speech. But stereotyping them as all muslims was wrong, And that person should have made a public appology. And thou taking the matters into physical matters is wrong, That person has to except that they made a bad mistake for the wrong reasons.@ 2:00 AM EST on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 80s4life said:
yeah i agree with most of the things you say. i really do not believe in dissing any religion at all. especially muslims. they are the nicest people to ever walk on this planet. they dont deserve to be condemned for a few muslims wrong doings.@ 6:42 AM EST on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, fangman said:

it's a two sided thing. if you look atit from the one side: it was wrong, and no one should be allowed to mock another persons religion. however, the extremists are taken it a little too strongly. as long as there ismorethan one culture, someone will feel the need to mock others, and there's virtually nothing anyone can do about it. also, if there was violence wouldn't be it(blowing up the danish embassy=a bad thing for example.) it's understandable that the muslims are upset and are fullyjustified in wanting an apology, but violence is not going to help in this case. there is also the problem that the governmetns of some countries with a high muslim population have been deliberately antagonizing them, by saying that some of the cartoons(the more offensive ones) were madepublic, when they actually weren't. only someof the cartoons were printed, and they were the tame ones. personally, i'm on the same side as the muslims, but not the extiremists. i think that the danes should apologize, and ban the cartoons(and any similar cartoons) from being printedor published
