About Me

I'm Hayley and right I dislike the new Quizilla.

Latest Journal Entry

January 22, 2010

R.I.P. my 'as 13 year olds' series.

I finally got around to deleting some of my most popular and most unpopular stories at the same time: The "green day as 13 year olds?!?!" and "simple plan as 13 year olds?!?!" series.
No one who ever read those stories would be reading this journal, but I felt like giving a sort of eulogy as those stories helped shape my grammar to give me higher marks in year 7 and 8, as well as kick start my writings for Quizilla.
I deleted those stories because of 3 reasons that come to mind, plus plenty other minor ones that don't.
1. The stories contained many things that personally identified me and others- As the characters in those stories were 'me' I stupidly gave away things about myself my school (down to my locker number) my suburb and just things that if anyone who knew me read those, would be like "Hey that's that Hayley chick I know! hahaha!" Whilst I don't think anyone would have STALKED me, it was kind of embarrassing when my friend's mum googled her name, my stories came up, and she read them...
2. The stories were badly written and formatted - Bad grammar, bad storylines, bad format, bad spelling. Enough said.
3. The stories were just a stupid fantasy of mine that I used to make them come to life- As I said in point 1, the character was a mary-sue of me, even attended the same school as I did. "Green Day as 13 year olds" speaks for itself. Turning 18 this year, I can now see how ridiculous the idea of it is, even if it was popular with 13 year olds at the time. They were just silly fantasies I used to have, rather than a story, and it was time that those fantasies were crushed, and never thought of again, even if I haven't in 6 years.
I've been wanting to delete those stories for a long time, and I'm glad tonight I finally got around to it. I have a few other stories from the same era I'd love to delete, but as those stories were less of a fantasy and my first attempt at writing a story, and they're not so personally identifiable of me - just my name and MAYBE my city, they can stay for a while until I decide what to do with them.
I'm pretty much finished with Quizilla, so I don't care if I have embarrassing stories up. Those were just bad for ny future, even if they were written with the past and they've got to go.
Plus, I find it kinda funny how in one story the character was based on what I wanted to be when I got older but thought I'd never achieve. Since I became everything I wished I would become, it's funny to read that one little fantasy that turned into a reality.
