Take a Stand
Inspired byhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCy6YDGKv3s
While many people are familiar with the stories of child abuse, kidnappings and other related topics, the most common one hasn't received much recognition or publicity at all: the pain of being the outcast.
How many times have you sat by while someone is tormented, or even taken part in the torturing yourself to 'fit in'? While that was happening, did it even occur to you that they weren't at fault for anything other than being themselves? Pardon me, but I believe that is called 'discrimination', and is it not listed in the bible, 'Truly I say unto you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you do it to me.' Matthew 26:40
And did you ever stop to think that maybe it is because of the bullying that they don't fit in? Perhaps what you are doing, or not doing, will change them forever, because once they are beaten, physically or mentally, they won't be able to open up to people as easily as someone who wasn't.
In 2001, suicide was the eleventh leading cause of death in the United States. The total number of suicide deaths was 30,622. Suicides outnumbered homicides by three to two. Do you think these people were mainly the popular people who had never been left out or treated badly? Let's face it, a person can only take so much before they snap, and sometimes on more than themselves.

If you take part in bullying, or just stand by and let it happen, just keep in mind that you are basically telling them that they don't matter, that they are worthless, and that they wouldn't be missed if they are gone.
Just remember, while it may take a while to get someone so depressed about themselves that they consider suicide or other things, all it takes is one act of kindness to save them before it's too late. All you have to do is talk to them, or stand up for them if you see them being bullied, and your small act of kindness may be what pulls them back from the edge, and saves them.
To those of you that are bullied, are considered the 'outcasts', don't give in. While things may seem bad right now, if you keep going, things will get better, I can attest to that. Just remember, those people who mock you are fools who need the security of everyone being exactly like them to go through life. The words they say are not true, and can't really hurt you unless you believe them. If you ever need to talk, you can always tell people what's happening to you, because it is wrong for that to happen to anyone.
If you agree with this, feel free to post it on you site under 'Take A Stand' and add your name.

Thanks vvfan, this was quite inspiring. While I lived in Colorado a program called Rachel's Challenge came and visited my high school when I was in 7th or 8th grade. Rachael was one if the first victims in the Columbine Shooting and some how she always knew she would die young. After the shooting her family found an essay she had written under her mattress. It was about how she lived her life helping people and how that made her happy and others happy. She challenged the reader to be kinder to everyone.
Her family came to our school and extended this challenge to us. It was a life changing experience and I was so blessed to be able to participate in this program and I hope I live my life like she did. I now extend this challenge to all who read this. Be kinder to someone who you usually don't talk to. Just a friendly "Hello" can make someone's day better.
