Women Who Inspire - What Makes Them Inspirational?

Hi Everyone! This is my first post so I thought I'd give you a recent picture of myself. I'm studying to be a journalist in addition to my blossoming career as a fantasy/scifi writer! I may post some excerpts from things I'm writing later on, so stay tuned!

Women Who Inspire - What Makes Them Inspirational?

                  http://www.feministezine.com/feminist/historical/Groundbreaking-Women.html

According to the article pertaining to research done on this topic, eleven basic traits are at the core of their being. Since they use a lot of complicated terminology, I'd like to explain them so  if you have goals to reach, you'll know what it takes!

1.   Resilient and Courageous
Being brave, doing something no one has ever done before! Like Amelia Earhart flying across the Atlantic ocean solo! Learn to battle hardship. Welcome the strength it gives you!

2.   Visionary
Don't limit yourself to the here and now. Think of the future and all its possibilities. Find a dream and hold onto it with all your might! Like Marie Curie who discovered radium, invented radiology, and opened a whole new field in physics. Science was her dream, her passion...what's yours?

3.   Self-efficacious
Believe in yourself! Because these days no one wants to do anything for you without anything in return. That just may cost you your freedom. Don't settle for anyone else's ideas about who you can be.

4.   Making a difference
If you want to excel, you need to have a mission and you need to pursue it wholeheartedly. Working in soup kitchens when you don't want to help people isn't a mission. Charity work is excellent if you enjoy helping out but missions can be much simpler. Your mission may be to expose the truth, track down child molesters, make the most money in business...those are missions.

5.   Persistent
Being successful means you will always have to fight against someone of something bigger than yourself. There are facts of life that need to be overcome such as, illness, no money, and the two biggies race and gender. Don't give up or give in. That's what THEY want.

6.   Knows the Value of Education
Education is important regardless of what mission you are working towards. Good grades WILL help you overcome the tough spots in life and propel you toward your future at a faster rate. For instance, take the case of Mary McLeod Bethune, who worked closely with Mrs. Roosevelt fighting for better education for young black girls who would have a much better life and more opportunities as a result.

7.   Passionate about their work
Love what you do or it will eat you alive.

8.   Putting family first
Families are your backbone and your support. Do not isolate yourself from them.

9.   Advocating for the Underrepresented
Fight for those who don't have a voice. Frances Perkins founded the Social Security Act and the Fair Labor Act to protect older people and single women. Who will you speak for? Back your friends up when you know they're right. Don't be cowardly.

10. Intellectually Advanced
Use your education to make yourself smarter than most other people. Get smart about things involved with your mission so you can defend yourself when someone picks a fight with you.

11. Known by society to be role models
Refuse to be the any less than the best in your given field. Even if it is dominated by men. Don't let anyone talk down to you. You can't inspire if you can't show a little muscle.

These points are key to your success in whatever you do...SCIENCE, MATH, TEACHING, ASTRONOMY, MOVIEMAKING, BUSINESS CEO...anything. You can't lead they say. Bullcrap. YOU CAN LEAD! SHOW 'EM WHAT YOU GOT!
