No disrespect intended

Have you ever noticed that a lot of the people you meet in life will often after you no longer are forced to make daily contact will just smile as they walk by you and say "Hi, how are you?" and then keep walking without listening to what you said? My question is, why do people even ask "how are you?" when they don't even care? Why don't you just say, "Hi, nice to see you!" and then when you walk right by them who cares? They can just say, "Hi, nice to see you too!" and you both go on with your lives. I mean, it's not a big deal, but sometimes the things that we're taught to say to other people just don't make sense to me. Like when you're in a room with somebody you don't know, or don't know well, and you don't particularly want to talk to them and yet you know that because of the whole "being polite" trend you feel as if you're supposed to talk to them. Well, I personally don't do much of the whole "being polite" things. If I know you, and I see you, and I don't hate you, i'll just smile and wave if I have no intention of talking to you. I don't really care at the moment how you're doing or what you've been up to and i'm not going to be a dumbass and ask when i'm not going to stick around and talk about it. If i'm in the room with you and I don't want to talk to you, I don't talk to you. Don't like it? Grow up and get over it. Nobody's ego should be that sensitive! This may come off as rude, but at least you know when I ask you something like how you are or what you've been up to, or I just plain talk to you, i'm doing it because I really care about what you have to say and i'm listening. I wouldn't waste my breath asking if I didn't. You may not agree, but personally I think if we followed THAT trend instead of "being polite" we would all be much better off.
